View Images in: Demolitoin - Day 1Soderberg Construction was selected to perform the demolition. This is the same company that removed the mall movie theater to make way for Lowe's. Prior to the beginning of demolition, asbestos was removed and any toxic materials such as fluorescent light bults and ballasts as well as any thing that could be salvaged by civic organizations. For instance, one of the ATV clubs got enough ceiling tiles to outfit a new meeting house. The gym bleachers were taken by the Northern Maine Fair Association. The center of the gym floor, with the Cunningham Wolves logo, was cut out and moved in its entirety into storage for use at a later date ... someplace. Only a shell of the former lovely old structure was left.
